On 17 April 2018, ZCFE welcomed a six-member delegation led by Dr Geoffrey E. Foy of Pacific Lutheran University, United States. The visit focused on international education and opportunities for cooperation. The delegation also included Hiro Kuroiwa-Lewis and Dr Brian Yang, representing an international education office and an education group respectively.

Discussions on International Cooperation

The visitors were received by Party Committee Secretary Li Guoqiang, President Li Hongchang, Chairman Niu Qinmin, Executive Vice-President Li Qingyang, and Wang Yanzhen, Assistant to the Chairman and Director of the International Affairs Office.

President Li Hongchang welcomed the delegation and introduced ZCFE’s academic strengths, faculty resources and approach to international education.

Dr Foy outlined Pacific Lutheran University’s history, academic programmes and educational approach. He highlighted its commitment to international education and longstanding relationships with Chinese universities, and welcomed ZCFE students to pursue study and exchange opportunities at the institution. Representatives watched introductory videos about the two institutions and exchanged gifts following the meeting.

Campus Tour and Further Exchanges

Accompanied by ZCFE representatives, the delegation toured the university library, laboratories and practical training facilities. During the visit, the two sides continued discussions on academic programme development, exchanges between senior institutional leaders, faculty development and student exchanges.
